97civicEXVTEC--Yes, lower compression is typicaly better for boost, however you can use stock USDM pistons or stock JDM pistons with boost...you just need a great tune...I've personally seen a dyno run at over 320 horsepower at the wheels on stock internals, tuned with hondataon a b18C1. The lower you go on the compression of your pistons, all the more boost you can run. To see numbers like 20+ lbs. of boost, you'll need at least 9.5:1 compression pistons...I'm sure there are people out there running high boost ( above 14.7psi ) on full stock internals, but they either spent 1k + on engine management and 1k+ on tuning; or will have fried piston rings and gaskets within the next 5k miles.

The moral: you can achieve huge dyno numbers on stock internals with an AMAZING tune, but IMO I'd rather not risk it and do it right the first time, i.e. forged internals, and 9.1:1 or 9.5:1 comp pistons
