is it covered up w/ anything? i like that idea. perhaps i could splice a mayching connector onto my wire and then juss plug it & seal around it. whatcha think?

yes, the fuse box under the dash. there should be auxilary taps above ur main row of fuses. use a test light to see which one is using the headlamps/parking lamps to tap your wire for the light.

the tach wire in my setup was not covered...but it was tied to the engine harness on the drivers side. it has an end harness that does not connect to anything. service shops/dealers use this to wire up a tach when working in the engine bay. you just run the green wire to the harness.
