First of all, an "insanely fast shutter speed" has nothing to do with how quickly a camera can go from shot to shot. Secondly, the cheapest dSLR that is for the most part all metal is the Canon 20D at about $1300 for just the body.
What are you looking to accomplish with this new camera? What sort of situations will you be taking pictures in? You say you want to be able to take shots in quick succession but that's a rather general description. Are you taking pictures of sports events? Parties? Give some more detail on what you're going to be shooting and that will help give a recommendation.
insanely fast shutter speed is so i can take pictures in extremely bright conditions, which i would defintely like to do.
going from shot to shot quickly shouldnt be a problem because of most high buffers in DSLRs and the fact that many of them can both read and write at the same time.
my serious concentration: i will be taking pictures mostly of nature (flowers, woodlands, mountains, sky, the sun, etc). obviously, i will also use it for random applications as well such as maybe family pictures & picnics, but for the most part I am looking at pictures of nature.
other perks i may use the camera for is for fast paced images, such as the power explosion of a bullet out of a chamber. no doubt that it will be hard if not impossible to get a good picture, but ive always wanted to try to get a pefect shot of a bullet exiting the chamber of a gun.
