It's probably because you rolled up your windows. This expands the relay joints, creating an open circuit. Turn on the ignition then listen for the 2 seconds fuel pump hum at the gas filler. If you don't hear it, the relay is out cold.

This is because the fuel rail is still pressurized. The quick fuel cut-off spikes tach readings.
