That's the purpose of the small plate with the hole, to direct what type of nozzle, just as passenger diesel cars can't use a class 8 diesel fuel nozzle on account they can't accept the larger volume flow nozzle.

But to my knowledge the Accord's never had this flap that Schmiddy posted, at least none of the Four 6th gen model's I've driven.
