My CEL came on the other day in my '96 TL 2.5 the mil code was 65 which is P0141 for OBO2. That is "Secondary HO2S Heater Circuit Malfunction." I have a friend who says he will help me replace the O2 sensor and that he has done it on his truck but I need to know where the secondary sensor is located.
By secondary does it mean that rear one (the one after the cat)? I have access to an auto shop with a lift and everything.
Do I need to spend the extra money to by the OE sensor or how complicated is it to splice a universal one? Please anything anyone can help me with will be greatly appreciated.
Yes, it is the rear one downstream of the cat.
I would personally buy an OEM O2 sensor because electrical work while underneath the car is not so fun. If you are up to the challenge, the splicing is very straightforward and it will come out to be a lot less money for the sensor.
