It boosts great around town, but above 5000 rpms in VTEC, u can feel the power fall off, and closer to redline, it makes almost no boost, and it's really not much of an increase if any over having it all-motor ...
I bought a TSI kit, because I didn't want to spend $3000 on a Greddy turbo kit, and there was pretty much no other choice for $1500. I knew about the difference between large and small turbos when I bought the kit, but I figured I'd still have more HP than I started with, but it seems this is not the case...
I have a B16A with GSR head, what is the best turbo that I can get??
I've been researching the different compressor maps, and I believe a T3/T04E turbo with a 57 trim compressor wheel will work best, flowing more than enough airflow at 8000rpms. Does anyone have any advice as to what turbo I should get.
Also, my bro is parting out his VR4 and I can get his td04-14b for like $125
I've seen the compressor maps for this turbo, and it doesn't flow as much as a T3/T4, but it's a Hell of a lot cheaper...
So, is it worth it for a 14B? Anyone running a 14B on a DOHC VTEC motor?
Thanks

Coming from personal experience the only t3 that I would run on a b-series is a t3 60-1.
The t3t4 you listed is a big I mean BIG upgrade from the turbo you have now.
I went from a strait t3 (.42 cold .48 hot) to my current t3t4 (.57 trim .63 a/r). What a night and day difference. Unless you have experinced a turbo this size or larger on a b-series, you won't appreciate the power.
I ran that t3 for about 2 years and I thought I was content. The first day with the new turbo, I about pissed my pants..lol. I would NEVER recomend anything smaller for a b-series, street car.
My power went from 199whp to 248whp by swapping turbo's, AND running 1psi LESS. I made 199whp (with the boost dropping off once vtec hit like your experiencing) @10psi with the t3 and 248whp with the t3t4. I dropped my quarter mile time from 13.54 down to 12.42 (12.7 with the same tires).
save yourself the headache and get a turbo that will flow enough for your motor, your bro's turbo's are to small.
BTW the turbo would spool about 2k rpm and have full boost by about 3,500rpm (9psi) and 13psi by about 3,800rpm.
