Takes long, but it works.

-Create a folder called "RESIZED" on your desktop
-Open a picture file in Photoshop
-Create a new action, and give it a Function key if you want. We'll call it "RESIZE"
-Start recording
-Image resize
-Resize to whatever you want, and hit OK
-File - Save as for Web
-Save the file in the RESIZED folder you created on the desktop
-DO NOT CHANGE THE FILE NAMES
-Save
-Then close your image- Do not save changes
-Stop recording.
Now you can resize the pic and save the edited size in the RESIZED folder by hitting whatever function key you gave it. And the original goes unedited.

To resize a bunch at a time:

-Open Photoshop
-File - Automate - Batch
-Under PLAY - ACTION, choose the action RESIZE
-Source FOLDER, hit choose and pick the folder with all the pics you want to resize
-OK

That will open each picture up and run the action.
