Well, I took the transmission and clutch out and found the problem. One of the springs had worn through the metal holding it in and was loose. The rest of the clutch looked fine. I'll probably get some crap for this, but you need all the info.
So instead of spending $300 on a new clutch I took the old one to work replaced the spring and welded a piece of metal in to hold it there.
I'm putting it back together now and wanted to make sure that it works. So I started the car. With the clutch in everything is fine. When I let it out in neutral the wheels spin! All the gears work and everything feels fine. The wheels are raised and there is no oil in the transmission. It is like it is always in gear. Besides it needing oil the only other think I can think of is that I was unable to get the pin holding the shift linkage on, so the linkage was still attached, when I dropped the transmission.
THis problem was not there before. Obviously the clutch is working fine since the wheels do not spin when the petal is in. So what is up with the trany? I've never done this before so Please help! THanks
