Speaking from experience, it saves time and hassle if you just get the pass. It was either I pay $1.70 twice a day 5 days a week for a month, or just buy a pass for 62 bucks to take our transit system to work.

In theory it only saves me 6 bucks in a month, but its so much easier just to buy the pass once and not worry about the money all the time.
