with the vafc the ecu is bypassed so that it alone activates vtec solenoid the thing I don't understand is that there shouldn't be oil pressure to acutate the lifters on the third cam lobes.
I figure I'll keep the vtec controller on the car if it happens again I'll buy omni power valves which are alot cheaper than the oe honda ones, and quicker to get and a little better as the valve faces are flat to help raise the static compression.
I'm getting pretty good at pulling heads off cars and I have a second car so its no big deal!
