Other then that it also pulls in dust 24/7, as opposed to NEVER when off, its generating heat constantly when on, and the fact that dust + current = a slew of bad things.... your theory makes no sense.
turning a computer off and on can cause chip creep. also, a constant temperature is better for electronics than a temperature that moves from extreems(ie cold/off warm/on). the change in temperature causes unnecessary expansion and contraction to components which in turn creates wear.
