You can't do a compression check if the timing is way off :thinking: but manually cranking it is a good idea. The lights probably dim because your battery is being drained of what little charge is left. A new battery would make sense too. Check compression after you replace the timing belt and ensure the timing is correct between the pistons and the valves.
