Okay, since we're comparing wounds... I'll share mine.

I was on my way up to class one spring morning in '03 and traffic was unusally thick on US101 North. Usually, I'm over in the far left lane, but given the traffic, I was puttering along in second lane from the right. There was a battered old pickup hauling what looked like drywall and plywood in front of me. On either side, I was penned in by traffic.

I crested the hill, heading down toward Corte Madera and then...out of nowhere, this sheet of MDF and a couple of chunks of plywood spill out of the back of the truck. I swear that sheet was 4' square; it hit the road at 65 mph and shattered like glass. :eek4:

I had no option but to get on the brakes and try to dodge the hail of splinters and plywood. Time seemed to slow to a crawl as I dodged the big chunks. Fortunately, there was a gap in traffic on my right that I could dart into.

I thought I had made it, because I only heard one small "ka-clump" going under my right side tires. There was no dramatic blowout, no bent rims, nothing.

It was only when I came back to my car at the end of the day did I notice the front right tire was flat and the right rear was visibly low.

So, I hobbled over on my mini-spare to Cain's Tyre in San Rafael.
I asked them to patch the tire, if at all possible.
After they had the car for about 15 mins, they asked me into the shop.

A stocky Russian was taking the tires off the rims...and with a tone of utter disbelief he looked at me and grumbled,"What the hell... did you run over a god damn pincushion?"

In all...six nails in the front tire, two nails and a screw in the rear. All along the far inside edge...too close to patch.

As far as I know, I still hold the record for the most punctures in a single passenger car tire. But still, two Nitto 205/45 R16s were killed in action, with less than 4000 miles of service.

In short, count your blessings.
You could have had my luck. h:
