I did this once and had great success with polyeurethane paint.

It comes in a lot of colors, it can handle temps of 350º-450º, it is self levelling so it is easy to put on, and it's super cheap.

It is really stinky, so do it way out-doors, maybe not in the garage. I had a bit of a buzz when I was done. It was on my car for 2 years, and never faded or chipped off.
