So the B16 head on a B18 block is just a bunch of crap or what?

So if I cant afford the B18C1, should I just go with a B16 with upgraded internals?

more displacement is always better.

if your going to build the motor, then the loss in compression given due to using the SiR head is not going to subtract any power, because in all liklihood you wont be running the same compression if it's built.

B16 head on a B18 block is a great idea if you do it right, given there are quite a few people who do not do it right , and then they end up with a blown motor due to propper oiling, etc.

And just FYI, you might wanna check up on the CARB rules abit more, if your using a different head on a different block and they have a way of telling, there is no way your going to pass. Also if the engine itself is older then the car, or if you do not have any of the specificed CARB equipment (charcoal canister etc.)

In order to pass smog in CA with CARB rules, I would just get the cheapest B18 you can (like an LS) that is newer then the car, smog it, then wait until thats al over to start building a frankenstein motor.
