#3 Keeping decent MPG.

I have searched for topics on the B18 block and B16 head, and have not come up with much, and I wanted to know more about the flow of a B16 head compared to the B18 head, and if I would be beter off going with a B18 block, and a ported B16 head?
there are 2 different main b18 bottomend+blocks.

the c1 head is different than the c5 or b16 heads, but the c5 and b16 heads are cut from the same basic mold.

in all applications the c1 head provides a higher compression so it is the preferred head for those who know what they are doing, where alot of guys say they have "psuedo" type-r c5's by putting a b16 head atop a b18c1 block, but it's just stupid because you're just going to lose power becasue of the loss in compression.

inorder of breathing the best is the c5 head, the second best is the c1 and the b16 is worse than both

if you use an LS block i'd suggest using a c1 head (i'm not sure if it will clear tho you'd have to check with someone in the LS/vtec circuit) because the higher compression will give more power.

all in all i say get a b18c1 (GSR) engine and call it a day... if you wanted to you could put in type-r parts (cams/pistons) and actually end up with more power because of the heads compression
