The tool in the kit I used that seemed to work the best I've circled below. If you can find one like that, you are golden. It's actually a pitman arm puller, but it was very effective in seperating the balljoint. Any autoparts store should have one for around $10-$50 depending on the name brand.
Edit - Well, I can't attach a photo for some reason, but it is the one in the middle on the top in the photos of the kit I posted earlier.

You are a lifesaver. I was looking at those when I went to get the new balljoint and thought they would work, but I wasn't sure, so I passed. If the big ass hammer doesn't work and I can't get the separater at the stealership, I will pick one of those up.
