I have my 94 on tokico illuminas (5way adjust) and H&R sprint springs with 17s. Ride is not too harsh. Plus if you get 16s and the ride is better, its just cause you have more rubber between you and the road. Rubber doesnt translate feel very well, and I like knowing exactly whats going on when I take a turn. Sure the ride with 17s will be rougher, but the setup just feels like its on rails... its amazing. Just makes sure if you do get wheels (especially 17s) that you get the lightest you can afford. Unsprung weight management is just as critical as what springs and struts you have, or what kind of camber you want to work with.

Oh yeah, and 17s look worlds better.
