Hello, I just did my AC last week... I'm not 100% positive, but odds are your 92 accord has the freon like you suspected. Regardless of what's in it (R134a or R12) you'll need a tech to remove the coolant from your system as it's illegal to just vent the stuff into the atmosphere, as well the oil will need to be removed from your system, which the tech can do during the evacuation. Once you're evacuated, you can get a kit to recharge yourself. From my experience, get a kit with a pressure gauge, or just buy a pressure gauge to test the system. I overfilled mine and it screwed up my idle RPMs and my acceleration (but later fixed it by reducing the pressure)..... If you're refilling with R134a I'm pretty sure you need a tech to fill it (as there's all kinds of licencing issues around handling R134a) if you're using the new 12a stuff you shouldn't have a problem retrofitting your system to the new chemical....
Anyhoo, here's the stuff I used: <html>http://www.redtek.ca</html>
Works like a charm......
