You could get an LS for 6k and then supercharge it, or turbo it. If you are really serious about building your own high-speed DC2 I suggest you check out the book "How to Build Honda HP" with this link because it has so many different formulas for making it happen well.

As far as carbon fiber goes. I absolutely love carbon fiber. It's main function is that it is stronger than steel, per volume, and weighs less than a third (roughly). It is used in aircraft as well as supercars as well as most really expensive race cars, including Rally, Formula 1, and Indy racing cars. I have some on my bike and would have it all over the place if I could afford it.... but there are people who hate it. To each his own I say.
