considering they retailed for $20k or less, its the whole "you get what you pay for" notion.
I felt the 94+ tegs and the 96+ civics weren't that bad. Del sols weren't bad, either, especially when you look at new cars these days.....
take for example the ford taurus/focus/mustang, chevy impala/monte carlo/silverado. And these are 2000+ model years. Granted ford has done a better job with the '05 mustangs, the '04 and previous years were crap.
dodge has done wonders ever since Mercedes took them over. the dashes are layed out better, the wood grain looks less cheaper, things like that. But then you still have blind-spot issues, poor visability, things like that.
but I'll tell you this much. Working in the car rental industry has really shown how crappy alot of cars are. Every day I drive '04-'05 model year cars, and at the end of the day, I still perfer my '96 civic in many ways over the newer cars made by most domestic companys. And then theres the other two big Jap companys, Toyota and Nissan. Toyota interiors are flat-out plain, and nissans aren't anything to write home about, either.
I never sat in said cars, but I'm sure there's worst crap out there. I think the two biggest things is sound deadning and pretty seats.
what year car do you have?
18sec, what do you mean with "replace select interior panels"? just worn out ones or is there something better than OEM?
eh, just some minor damaged panels, the occational scratch or cigarette burn here or there. But I'm pretty happy with my interior for the time being.
I will say this much. Motor trend, Car and driver, similar publications, always gave credit to honda's ability to make a well-layed out cabin, regardless of price, and always have excellent visability. All the controls are placed where one would expect. If there's any cars out there that do a better job, they're either 2x the price, they're european, or both.
