Just curious whether this will damage the engine, and any good suggestion for one more ride to home this afternoon. By the way, I checked the local AutoZone, they do free check the ECL.
Thanks.
Hey,
Don't worry too much about the check engine light, it's designed to come on when some various part of your emmission control system is not functioning correctly, such as O2 sensor, which may be why ur friend paid so much at honda. It will not damage your engine at all, just watch your temp and oil pressure gauges (oil light if no gauge), to make sure they are normal...
Also, if you purchase the Hanes/chilton manueal for your car it will tell you how to read the engine codes urself, or maybe look on google. I know for 92-00 civics/crv you can check codes by jumping the 2-prong connector with a small wire or safety pin, near the ECU in the passenger foot well... the engine light will blink in sequence the code, then u look it up in book or online.
Hope this helps, but DON'T worry it won't hurt your car, maybe just get less performance and gas mileage.
Later,
Mike
