My friend has a 93 DX auto. He needs motor work. Will the Si's D16 bolt up to his auto, or was the D16 ever offered with an auto tranny in the 5th gens?

Bottome line: his motor needs major work. We figure that if he needs to drop some coin into it, he might as well uprade to a D16 if at all possible. He would go with a B series swap if his budget would permit, but it doesn't. So, he wants to upgrade with $1000 max budget. If the auto D16 isn't an option, perhaps rebuild his stock D15?
