Default BMW 135i (maybe 135Ti--T for turbo) spy shots

Spotted by our colleagues at Automedia-online, the car is said to be a lookalike for the extremely quick BMW M1, due out in Europe in about 18 months.

No details are available yet, but our feeling is that this will also be the face of the BMW 135i due in South Africa next year.

The 135i is expected to have an upgraded larger capacity version of the new lightweight and compact six-cylinder fitted in the 330i.

The 330i engine has 2979 cc capacity and produces 255 hp at 6600 rpm with 220 lb/ft of torque between 2500 rpm and 4000 rpm, so we can expect the 135i to produce upwards of 275 hp.

Which should be more than enough to give it a 0-60 mph acceleration blast in under 6 seconds, and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.

The suspension is uprated, and so are the wheels and tyres, with 17 inch alloys standard. There's new chrome detailing on the bodywork, while the interior gets new sports seats.

At the same time the car's low mass means fuel economy is expected to be excellent, with average consumption of around 9 litres/100 km.
