I decided to start trying to change my own oil, and went to the local NAPA store to get the oil, filter and drain plug washer.

After pulling out the drain plug, I noticed that the washer I was sold is slightly larger in diameter on both the inner and outer measurements.

Can someone here tell me if this is critical -- should the washer fit over the plug with virtually no wiggle, or does it tend to "smash to fit" when the plug is tightened?

The store looked up the washer data, and said something about it needing a 14mm aluminum washer. Can someone tell me what I REALLY need? (I also didn't notice ANY mention of this part in the manual -- not a great move if the washer needs replacing with EVERY change!)
