that and the rev. limiter is a couple hundred more than the redline. i would think one of your biggest concerns would be valve float if you held a high rev on a stock valvetrain for an extended period of time. just get an aftermarket tach and shift light. its safer also so you won't be looking at the tach instead of the road when you're hitting vtec in third gear .

imo, if your car is factory tuned, it probably shouldn't be shifted at the redline. most (stock) honda powerbands that i've seen level off and don't make power after a certain rpm, which is usually 300-500 rpm before redline, so you'd be better off shifting to the next higher gear anyway.
