Actually, that reputation persists from before Ford bought the company, but is no longer the case.

Since then Ford has made lots of efforts to get them up to snuff with reliability. In fact one year (1998 maybe?) they were tops in the J.D. Power rankings and are now relatively consistently near the top of the rankings.
