Fuel filter is supposed to be done about every 30K miles so this should be a regular maintenance piece.
The distributor cap, rotor button and distributor wires may need to be changed if they haven't been in awhile. I usually do my rotor button the same time I do my spark plugs which is about every 2 years or so like you're supposed to do. The distributor cap and wires just depends. The distributor cap should absolutely be replaced if it is cracked or if you see scarring taking place. Even if you don't it's a good idea to replace it especially if it's been awhile. Your wires? If they haven't been done recently, I'd just do those too and get some decent ones.
Remember that when you change the fluid in your tranny you're only taking out and replacing a few quarts.... While the Accords do not need a tranny "flushing," you probably should take it in for a tranny service from the stealership. It should only run you about $69 or there about and it's worth it especially at that age. Sometimes it'll help with the little noises and issues you may have. I suppose tranny issues could be around the corner for you too but in either case you want to exhaust all your "cheap" options first; right?
I can't say what the noise is... Are you sure you've done your valves correctly? Did the noise start before or after your DIY valve job?
