Your bore is the interior diameter of your sleeves. When an engine is overbored, that means you are enlarging the volume of your cylinders.


If your sleeves are scratched badly enough that it can't be fixed during honing, you bore out the block enough to eliminate that scratch and then use slightly oversized pistons, rings, etc.
