I have never heard of an issue with that. Sounds like your mechanic is putting on a pretty good show to separate your money from your wallet for unnecessary repairs. Have someone else take a look at it and give you a second opinion.

What did they fix with the compression issues and did they give you compression numbers to confirm there was a problem? Sounds like you are getting played.
