just started today,

I was at a light and it was about to turn green so i threw it in 1st and had the clutch in ...well the light took about another 20 seconds to change ..
then i noticed my clutch was stuck i had to turn the car off to keep from stalling being that i couldnt take it out of 1st gear ....anyone know what caused this?
