I can scratch #8 off the list. I figured out why my PCI express x16 card wouldn't work. Dell being a cheap bastards put a plastic tab right in the middle (where a pci ex x8 would end) so you can't physically put a pci ex x16 card in the slot.
Solution is simple. You just cut the plastic tab with an exacto knife :rick:
Time spent searching for a solution 1hr. Money saved $150
Or just stick a cheap & cheerful PCI card in there. Using a PCI-Express card won't make ripping DVD's any faster..
Also, what about the warranty, if there is one?
Had better experience with their servers than desktops; client had problems with Dell system running a Celeron/256MB/40GB. Piece of absolute shit hardware, slow as sludge but service from Dell was very good.
