Default type s piston hi-temp coating and cryo treating

i was planning on having my rods/pistons cryo treated. the problem was that the prelude type s pistons have a high heat resistant coating which one can see in plain view. what kind of coating is this?

i brought this to the attention of the cryo tempering services and they advised against the tempering unless i knew that the coating wouldn't be affected by the tempering. they mentioned that it MIGHT have adverse effects on the coating either right away or later on in life.

so any insight on this coating would really help me out. its a difference in a week or so waiting for the turn around if i do the tempering or not.
