A thicker headgasket is not a good idea. It makes the quench zones of the combustion chamber less effective and creates a larger surface area for detonation to affect and possibly blow out the headgasket. Just get some lower compression pistons and some stronger rods and you will be set for a good amount of boost as long as it is properly tuned.
