It appears that milano red is a tri coat, which requires a base coat as well. I don't believe that any particular color primer matters. Depending upon what paint company you decide to go with, you should use a primer and clearcoat that goes along with their brand of paint. Sometimes different brands contain different chemicals and have a negative result when applied together. I would recommend using spray, only because brush can leave unwanted brush strokes.
