First, It's VTEC. Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control. There is no hyphen.
Secondly, there is no way the oil squirters can cause this problem. Trust me, no extra oil is going to seep past the rings to burn due to the squirters. Hell, I don't think Y8's even have oil squirters. I haven't noticed them in the blocks I've seen.
