uhh when u push start dont put in first, itl be spinning too fast to do anything to the motor, or it will be jumpy and jerky like, next time that happens try second gear, i did it for testing purposes and second gear felt great doing there...

got that from a fourwheeler too, we tried push starting in first, it locked the wheels and spun locked so wed have to quickly press in clutch again... second gear just push down hill and get to second and it started up fine
