I don't think anyone doubts that he worked hard. I'm sure all the fighters on the show have worked hard and have gone through a lot. And almost all of them have had my respect. The reason people are making light about Bonsante's loss is because of the way he played the game. Almost everyone so far has shown integrity and a drive to face challenge head on. Bonsante on the other hand just showed that he wanted to win at any cost..."for his kids". Because as long as you tack on the disclaimer that it's for your kids, it's okay to lie and take the easy way out of every situation huh? I don't think so. IMHO, he wouldn't have won the competition. So with that in mind, he could have at least shown his kids an example of facing adversity with your head up, rather than weaseling your way to a million dollars. But everyone's life lessons are different and I won't doubt that other than that, he could very well be a great father.
IMO, a seasoned/older fighter who should have stayed on the show was Tarick. I think it's pretty whacked that he lost to Juan only to have Juan realize that he can't handle it and leave. At least he was grateful for the opportunity and left the show deserving much respect.
