I only got them for Corvette and Porsche autocross events. I didn't want to spend $180 for fun tires
$100/tire for DOT R tires is more my territory. Plus my car is 2100lbs'ish and the 710s reward cars that are heavier.

Tire srubbing gets the mold release compound off the tires. It's a protective coating that keeps the tires fresh and new since without it the tire will just dry out sitting on the shelves waiting to be purchased. And it helps get the tires out of the mold from factory. If you don't get this shiney part off the tires will be slippery if you use them for competition.
