the backing plate is the thin round metal disk that chills right behind the brake rotor. its supposed to keep some of the water from splashing up onto your brakes. u can see them without having to take everything apart, the diameter of the backing plate is larger than the diameter of stock rotors.
to fix the problem u can either replace the backing plate or try to bend it a certain way or straighten it so it wont squeek. to replace it u have to take everything apart so i tried bending it but i was unsuccessful with my bent backing plates. i think the shop charges like $500 just for labor. so yeah.
when my blades were stolen they left my car on the road with no jacks or stands or anything, it was just sitting there....so all four backing plates are bent up on my car. whenever i turn the steering wheel it squeeks, but i learned to live with it. id rather spend my time doing something else for the car. after all, they still serve their purpose.
