A lot of people react differently to different training methods. One of my friends is on a sustained workout program, in which he is lifting moderate weight for 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. I think his method overtrains the body, which pretty much just causes a lot of fatigue, but if it works for him then good for him I guess. It wasn't so good for me when I tried it. I am on a high-intensity program, which shortens workout times to about 45 minutes. However I lift more weight with less reps to promote gains in mass.

I say just try different routines and see what works for you. 6'7"/270 is huge. I'm sure you're already pretty strong so you shouldn't have trouble putting up big numbers. Like they say, less weight/more reps will give you definition. Maybe sticking with a weight that's neither too heavy nor too light will give you some nice mass without putting on too much weight. I dunno.

Keep running If you burn more calories than you take in, you will definitely lose weight.

However I've never been in your situation so I'm just tossing out ideas. Ask the local buff guys at your gym. More often than not they will be happy to give you advice with regards to nutrition, lifting techniques, etc.

Good luck mate
