I am assuming you purchased the car with a salvage title, since you stated you bought it after it was wrecked. There's always a certain amount of risk involved in buying a car after an accident, especially if it's been salvaged. The smoke coming from the HVAC vents could be absolutely anything. My advice is to take your car to a mechanic you trust and have him to a once over completely on the car. Inspect everything. And going back to your power door locks, Hondas don't use an old fashioned swtich - relay - solenoid door lock system. The power door locks are controled via a computer module (which is what employs the central locking system and delayed interior lighting). Even if the car was equiped with an aftermarket alarm and remote entry, if the aftermarket system failed and blew up, the power door locks would still work. If your power door locks do not operate at all with the switches on the doors, you most likely have a problem with the factory door control module.
