To answer the original question, the best ride quality and drop for the money is a set of Neuspeed Race Springs (2.0 F, 1.75 R) coupled with a set of either KYB GR-2 (non-adjustable) or KYB AGX (4 way adjustable) shocks.

Coilovers are much too stiff for my taste. I would rather have a smoother ride than adjustability of ride height. But hey, you can do what you want with the car.
