I had great compression numbers too but it was my rings. To be safe, I would replace the valve seals with the head off while you are replacing the rings.
well i got the gutted cat on today, and guess what....NO SMOKE! my friend notice a very slight amount, but nothing he's never seen on a car that doesnt burn oil. on start-up, at redline, snap-off throttle, vacuum events...he saw VERY little.
