I use PS all day long and have just gotten in the habit of always leaving it open as long as the computer is still on. It sucks they can't up the speed on boot time but such is life.
Acrobat is a bit faster than PS is though and loading up ImageReady is painful at times.
illustrator is pretty slow, too. adobe programs tend to be pretty heavy, but they're packed full of features. i'm sure it's possible for them to speed up those load times - look at how fast OSX boots compared to OS 9 and under, or windows XP compared to 2000. pretty impressive. but it's probably not a big priority for applications on that scale. something like a web browser or an operating system *really need* it.
