the 2000 denotes the displacement in CC's (cubic centimeters) or mL's (milliliters). although the current US s2000 should technically be the s2200 by this standard, like 98CoupeV6 said, we're the only one that has it. but i'm not entirely convinced this was the only reason they stuck with the name.

That's the "rumor" from TOV, and they got it from Motor Trend. MT has a habit of being perpetually wrong about Honda products. TOV is a joke. The 3.2 V6 simply makes more sense than the high cost, sport oriented turbo 2.0L.
it wouldn't make sense for them to use a 4-cyl engine either, given the competition the RDX is going to face. but i guess honda does that a lot, putting smaller engines with fewer cylinders up against their competitors' models.
