The owner sounds pretty wacked out. I'd get out of the helping out situation and just pay rent if you want to have control of the situation. As long as you get free rent in the place she has you by the neck and sounds like she pulls the rope around it whenever she wants and there isn't much you can do since it sounds like you didn't write up an agreement on how much time you would have to put in for free rent.

well as soon as we all get time to sit down and have a lttle meeting, i'm bringing it up. She would be charging me $200 a month for rent. Since i'm working for it, i shouldnt be working more than 10 hours a week..that is if she were to pay me $5 an hour (which is less than min. wage). I'm there for 8 hours a day sometimes.
She has me by the neck, so she thinks. But the truth is, if i walked out today and never came back, she'd be lost. I do EVERYTHING for her. I've made all of our advertisements, I've put our pricelists together, I've made all of our packages and specials, painted 3/4 of hte tanning rooms. I'm there on a whim when she can't be there or has to leave in a hurry. I run her errands for her, make her calls. I know where everything is, and what's going on all the time.
If i refuse to come in as often as i do now, she could fire me, sure...but she wont because she wouldnt know wtf to do without me.
All that, on top of the fact that i'm the best massage therapist they've ever had there...per the clients.
