ok, the 2nd top end style will work. buuuttttt, the spring catcher tips must be grinded to fit into the spring sides. you will probably bend the middle tips inward so they don't slide off of the retainer. This peice works with the head still installed. buuuutttttt, make sure you have a big magnet near the extraction point to catch the keepers. otherwise... bye - bye.
I say let the seals leak until you are prepared to do the entire motor. And since you commit to doing the entire motor then I suggest getting another motor and building that motor while daily driving the 1st motor. AAANNNNDDDD since you have elected to do a new motor then you might as well get a bigger engine and build the gooseshit out of it. AAANNNDDD since you will bedevil a bigger engine you might as well get a shell and drop the new motor into it and rip out the innards and ride - ride - ride.
