So I assume no one else read that the car was previously wrecked? If the car isn't quite straight it could still have a high thrust angle which under the situation he had could result in a spin more often that not. I've driven bent RWD cars in the past that would start rotating at a constant speed, in the middle of a turn with no additional throttle, steering, etc input.
Until you've seen how a bent RWD car handles, don't insist that he can't drive.
